Jana B. Kooi
Jana B. Kooi became president of Pima County Community College Campus in 1991. Currently, President Kooi serves on the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Commission on Economic and Workforce Development, the Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certification Advisory Committee, the Pima County School Superintendent's Advisory Committee, the University of Arizona College of Education Professional Preparation Board, the Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities (TREO) Advisory and Partnership Committees and the TREO Community Committee for Regional Visioning.
President Kooi was named one of ten "Women of Influence" by Inside Tucson Business and she received the YMCA "Women on the Move" Award. During her tenure at Pima Community College, she has developed and implemented the nationally-recognized Industry Training Credit Approval Process (ITCAP) model to confer college credit for mastery of industry-standard certifications (cited as a "Best Practice" by Microsoft Education and Certification), led the College roll out of Web-based instructional delivery that included creating a comprehensive Center for Learning Technologies (CLT), developed an online post-baccalaureate teacher certification program to address a state K-12 teacher shortage, and partnered with the Tohono O'odham Nation leaders to establish Tohono O'odham Community College (TOCC) from start-up to independent accreditation.
Prior to being named president of Pima County Community College she was Associate Vice President for External Academic Affairs at Triton College in Illinois.
